Reimagining Learning, with Lebanese Alternative Learning

About the project

Context:

In Lebanon, political turmoil and economic collapse have left millions of children without access to stable or continuous education.

About:

We国产视频檙e working alongside the Lebanese Alternative Learning (LAL) to address the challenges of children learning in crisis affected areas. Together, we国产视频檝e created Alternative Learning Spaces in two communities, Dhour Choueir and Zahle.

Inside these spaces, tablets and laptops preloaded with LAL国产视频檚 Tabshoura platform provide a self-directed learning programme for children. Teachers, newly trained in LAL国产视频檚 Self-Directed Learning model, guide rather than instruct, helping each child learn at their own pace, rediscover curiosity, and regain confidence.

Impact

Through equipping learning spaces and training teachers, the programme has reached hundreds of students with personalised learning, even during long periods of school closures. Building on this success, Lebanese Alternative Learning is extending the support to early childhood education, engaging both teachers and parents through activities at a centre in Zahle. This will ensure that Lebanon国产视频檚 youngest learners can thrive in times of instability.

Lebanese Alternative Learning

Established: 2014

Location: Beirut, Lebanon

About:
Lebanese Alternative Learning was created by Lebanese educators and technology experts to provide quality education for all children, especially those who have been displaced by conflict or excluded from traditional schools. The organisation uses technology, teacher training, and community partnerships to tackle Lebanon国产视频檚 ongoing education crisis.

Their flagship platform, Tabshoura, is an award-winning learning tool that offers free educational resources in Arabic, French, and English. It works online and offline, providing curriculum based content to help children continue learning during crises such as the Syrian refugee influx, Lebanon国产视频檚 financial collapse, and regional instability.
