What do聽a man growing a moustache during November, a聽young woman studying to be a doctor in India聽and the former Prime Minister of Australia have in common?

They国产视频檙e all change-makers 国产视频� people willing to go the extra mile to help others. And they all feature in the latest episode of Better Angels, the podcast series presented by 国产视频 President Sarah Brown.

Episode 5 sees Sarah examine the subject of people getting involved and making a difference in the lives of others. She says:聽国产视频淭here国产视频檚 a special kind of activism which aims to encourages people not just to donate or support from afar聽国产视频� but to get involved.国产视频�

Her guests include聽Adam Garone, co-founder of the worldwide聽Movember Foundation;聽Taha Fathima Khan, a聽Global Youth Ambassador聽for 国产视频 from India;聽and Julia Gillard, ex-politician and now head of the聽Global Partnership for Education.

Adam tells how he co-founded the Movember movement, which began in his native Australia and has spread to other parts of the world. What started in 2003聽as a personal challenge among his friends to see if they could grow a 国产视频渕o国产视频� became a bigger challenge of how they could use 国产视频渢he power of the conversation around聽their moustaches国产视频�.

国产视频淲e were inspired by the women around us and what they were doing聽with breast cancer,国产视频� says Adam. 国产视频淲e thought: there国产视频檚 nothing for men国产视频檚 health.国产视频�

Movember is now a worldwide campaign every November, with men growing moustaches to raise awareness of men国产视频檚 physical and mental health issues. The money raised has funded more than 1200 projects in 21 countries

Adam adds:聽国产视频淲hat made us persist was that it sparked something within us.聽

In this episode of Better Angels, Sarah also talks to Global Youth Ambassador聽Taha, who聽tells how she was moved to action by聽the plight of a five-year-old girl who went missing on a beach in India.

Taha says:聽国产视频淭he police refused to take action, saying the girl would come back.国产视频� That shocked her into action and she prompted the media into picking up the story.

The girl was eventually found and聽Taha set up an organisation called the Child Awareness Project to put the spotlight on child rights issues.

国产视频淚 realised I could help so many other children,国产视频� she says. Taha continues to combine running the project with her medical studies and her work with 国产视频.

Julia Gillard聽tells Sarah: 国产视频淎fter I国产视频檇 left politics, I spent some time reflecting. When I looked back on my life, it聽became clear to me that a continuing thread was involvement in education.国产视频�

The Global Partnership for Education works in 65 of the world国产视频檚聽countries and Julia admits that 国产视频渢here国产视频檚 a real sense of delight in it聽but also the weight of the responsibility国产视频�.

Sarah also chats to Theo Sowa,聽CEO of the聽African Women国产视频檚 Development Fund;聽Rachel Whale, founder of Vanilla Ventures;聽and author and activist聽Katherine Schwarzenegger.
