Muslim Aid launches #UpForSchool campaign at East London Mosque


Muslim Aid and A World at School visited the East London Mosque during Friday prayers to launch the #UpForSchool Petition in the local community 国产视频 and almost 500 signatures were collected in only two hours.

As one of the first members to join the Global Faiths Coalition for Education, Muslim Aid has taken leadership in promoting the campaign to its supporters. The petition drive marked the first on-site #UpForSchool event in a campaign that is quickly spreading to Muslim Aid国产视频檚 global community.聽

The #UpForSchool Petition is a youth-led demand that world leaders keep to their promise to get all children into school and learning 国产视频 without fear of discrimination or danger 国产视频 by the end of 2015.

Abu Akeem is a Country Desk Manager at Muslim Aid working on development programmes with field offices throughout Asia. He led Muslim Aid国产视频檚 petition drive and confirmed the organisation国产视频檚 intentions to spread the campaign around the world.

He said: 国产视频淚 have personally encouraged a number of field offices to get involved with #UpForSchool. I think it国产视频檚 an important campaign that we can all get behind. Education is a priority area for Muslim Aid and many of our teams throughout Asia and Middle East are actively working to secure every child国产视频檚 right to go to school.

国产视频淭he petition drive today was a great start to this campaign but I would call on our supporters to keep adding their voices and show how much our community cares about this issue.国产视频

The petition drive was supported by East London Mosque, who encouraged all those attending prayers to sign the petition on their way home. Women, men and children of all ages stopped by the A World at School and Muslim Aid desks to lend their support and learn more about the campaign.
