Education For All is priority campaign for Avaaz’s 34million global citizens
With 34 million members around the world, the activism website Avaaz makes decision-makers sit up and listen.
And its campaigning readers have made their opinions heard loud and clear on the subject of education for all.
Getting the international funding to put every child in the world into school has topped a poll of global challenges on avaaz.org.
The movement asked its members to vote for the 国产视频渃ampaign ideas we're most excited about国产视频 in 2014.
Top came 国产视频淓ducation For All 国产视频 get the international funding needed to get every child into school国产视频. It was put as a priority by 39.24% of the tens of thousands who voted.
That put it ahead of other issues involving sex trafficking and clean energy.
Last year, more than 40,000 Avaaz members donated $1million towards helping Syrian refugee children get into schools in Lebanon.聽
The President and Chief Executive of Avaaz, Ricken Patel, is a member of the newly formed Emergency Coalition for Global Education Action, which was announced at the 2015 Countdown Summit on April 10.
In the 2014 poll, Avaaz members were asked a series of questions to help the organisation shape its next steps. The challenge people want Avaaz to tackle as their top priority is fighting political corruption, followed by economic policies that benefit the common good over the elite few.
The mission of Avaaz, which has 34 million members in 194 countries, is to 国产视频渙rganise citizens of all nations to close the gap between the world we have and the world most people everywhere want国产视频.
On its website, Reem Bsaiso of Jordan commented: 国产视频淓very citizen's right to education is music to my ears. We neglect our kids, teens, youth and women. Even the elderly who missed their chance have the right to at least read and write.国产视频
