The Chibok Girl Ambassadors prepare to march in Abuja
Events are being held around the world today on the anniversary of the abduction of more than 200 Nigerian girls from their school in Chibok.
In the capital Abuja, 219 girls took part in a procession to mark the number of girls still missing after being taken by Boko Haram on April 14, 2014.
#BringBackOurGirls is trending on Twitter across the world as prayers, vigils and marches are held in many countries including the United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, France, Belgium, Switzerland and Chile.
A World at School has released a video today to mark the anniversary and to call on world leaders to act now to stop attacks on schools 国产视频 which are at their worst levels for 40 years. You can watch it here.
A UNICEF report called Missing Childhoods 国产视频 released on the eve of the anniversary 国产视频 has revealed that 800,000 children have been forced to flee from Boko Haram国产视频檚 campaign of violence in northeast Nigeria. And an Amnesty International report says at least 2000 Nigerian girls and women have been abducted by Boko Haram since the start of 2014.
Here is a flavour of what is happening today to mark one year since the awful events at the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok 国产视频 when 219 girls were abducted just because they wanted an education. We will be adding tweets and pictures as events are held.
